A while back I started daydreaming about The Ink & Armchair Book Studio. It would be a cozy little bookshop and writing space with armchairs and good light, local authors books on consignment, a corner where writers could come sit and just write. It would also be a writing space for me away from home.
Then I started pricing retail space.
Turns out “cozy little bookshop” costs a lot more than cozy. And when I brought the idea to a few people, I didn’t get the enthusiasm I was hoping for.
So today I’m nursing a bruised idea and a bruised ego. I spent most of last evening telling myself maybe I should just stay in my lane. Write my books. Stop being crazy.
But I keep coming back around to the idea that you can’t have big dreams without the chance to have big failures. Risk wouldn’t be risk if there was no chance of losing.
So I’m not done with this idea yet. It’s on pause, for a time at least. But the dream is still there.
Keep dreaming,
Amethyst Drake
